Business and Technology Management has as a mission three key points:
Key points:
- Collaborating with its clients in the definition of an information system model aligned with its business
- To help CIO’s manage and control risks connected to large systems projects
- To provide support to clients on IT projects aiming towards long term improvements
Pre Project:
During the Pre-Project we collaborate with our clients in the creation of the business case where the different IT solutions are evaluated; the most adequate is chosen and compared to the real value that this solution adds with its implementation and maintenance costs.
In large strategic projects this comparison includes future cash flows and VPN analysis.
Once the decision of implementing a certain IT solution has been made, we collaborate with our clients in elaborating the RFP (Request for Proposal) that will be delivered to suppliers.
Also, we help in evaluating supplier proposals and we assess the process of supplier choice.

- Supplier Analysis and Selection.
- Governance and Structure.
Project Structure (teams; responsibility areas; etc.) and how to manage its governance (processes of approval for different actions; control organizations; forms; etc.) - Project Resources Selection.
Generally the focus is placed on the supplier selection while performing an analysis regarding the client’s resources that are to collaborate with the project
- Soft Skills Training.
Having resources with knowledge of the IT solution (supplier) and of business (client) is a necessary requirement for the project’s success. But these resources must be able to communicate in an efficient way, to understand the working methodologies that are required, to have the adequate attitude for each stage of the project; and to be able to take advantage of the project’s synergies.
Proyect:
- Project Assurance.
The role of the Assurance is backing the Project Board / Steering Committee when carrying out revisions and monitoring of the project in an independent and objective way.
This role is also assessing and suggesting solutions to major course alterations but must not be delegated to the Project Manager that must be kept separately from the Assurance role.
The liability of the PA role is assured given that IT projects have a course alteration of a 20% average from the original budget. Project Assurance can minimize these alterations from 5% to 10% with an investment of less than 1%.
- Project Management.
Project Management includes project’s planning, preparation, execution and monitoring. Its key objective must be the fulfillment and realization of the client’s objectives, as established in the Business Case, and according to the conditions established in the contract –in a particular reach, cost and term.
